Creating Profiles
A Profile in PinBuilds represents one content source. It saves the source URL, niche, generation defaults, and Pinterest account connection.
- Go to Dashboard and click "New Profile".
- Profile Type: Choose Website / Blog, Shopify Store, or Etsy Shop.
- Source URL: Enter the matching URL:
- Website / Blog:
https://myblog.com - Shopify Store:
https://store.com - Etsy Shop:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShopName
Important: Each profile is locked to one source. You cannot generate pins for a different site or shop using the same profile.
- Website / Blog:
- Niche: Select the category that best matches your content (e.g., "Food", "DIY"). This tunes the AI prompts for better results.
Etsy profiles must use the shop URL. Individual Etsy listing URLs are accepted during generation after the shop profile is selected, but they are not valid as the profile URL because listing URLs do not reliably identify the shop in the domain.
Profile Capacity
Paid plans support unlimited profiles. Your monthly pin limit controls generation volume, so you can manage multiple websites or Pinterest profiles without worrying about a separate profile cap.
Profile Generation Defaults
Each profile stores default generation settings that are used both on the Dashboard and via the REST API:
- Generation Type: Image, Infographic, or Mix for Website / Blog profiles. Shopify and Etsy profiles are image-only.
- Text Overlay: On or Off (default: On)
- Image Styles: Select which visual styles to use (e.g., "Minimalist", "Bold")
- Pins Per Post / Product: How many pins to generate per article or product (default: 3)
Configure these in Settings under each profile's "Generation Settings" section. The WordPress plugin, REST API, and MCP agent tools automatically use these defaults.
Product store profiles are locked to image pins because Pinterest product promotion usually needs a clean product-focused visual. Infographics are better suited to educational website content such as tutorials, comparisons, checklists, recipes, and how-to articles.
Finding Content
PinBuilds can find content from either website sitemaps or product store feeds, depending on the selected profile type.
Website Articles
For Website / Blog profiles, PinBuilds automatically scans your website's sitemap to find articles. Generic pages (about, contact, privacy, category archives, etc.) are automatically filtered out.
- Select a Profile on the Dashboard — sitemaps load automatically.
- If no sitemaps appear: Make sure your site has a standard
sitemap.xmlat the root. You can also enter a direct URL likehttps://yoursite.com/sitemap_index.xml. - Select Articles:
- Check the boxes next to articles you want to promote.
- Use "Smart Select" to automatically pick the freshest content.
Tip: PinBuilds permanently tracks which article URLs you've processed, so you'll always know which articles still need promotion.
Shopify and Etsy Products
For Shopify and Etsy profiles, the Dashboard switches to product discovery:
- Select a Shopify or Etsy profile on the Dashboard.
- Load products from the store feed. A single import can bring in up to 1,000 public product URLs.
- Select products you want to promote.
- Generate image pins. Infographic and Mix modes are disabled for these profiles.
For Etsy-specific capabilities, data use, and API behavior, see Etsy Product Workflows.
AI Pin Generation
The generation process runs in 3 phases:
- Text Generation: Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite reads your article URLs and generates SEO-optimized titles, descriptions, keywords, and overlay text.
- Task Prep: The system matches your selected generation type and visual styles to the generated text.
- Visual Generation: The system renders Pinterest-optimized images or infographics in a 2:3 format. If the primary image provider fails, a secondary provider is used automatically.
Generation Type
Choose Image for standard Pinterest pins, Infographic for educational, step-by-step, comparison, and data-led visuals, or Mix to generate both in one batch.
Shopify and Etsy profiles always generate Image pins. PinBuilds routes those image pins through Runware first and automatically falls back to another provider if the primary provider is unavailable.
Text Overlay Toggle
Control whether text appears on your pin images:
- On (default): A short title (max 40 characters) is rendered directly on the image.
- Off: Clean images are generated without any text overlay. Useful for photo-centric niches.
You can generate up to 50 pins per batch. Plans include monthly pin limits: Starter has 600 pins/month, Pro has 2,000 pins/month, and Agency has 4,000 pins/month. Extra generation packs are available from the dashboard.
After generation, you can:
- Schedule directly to Pinterest (if your account is connected)
- Edit pins inline — change titles, descriptions, keywords, or destination URLs
- Download as CSV for Pinterest's Bulk Upload tool
- Download as ZIP to get all images at once
Connecting Pinterest
To schedule and publish pins directly from PinBuilds, connect your Pinterest account:
- Go to Settings.
- Select the profile you want to connect.
- Click "Connect Pinterest" — you'll be redirected to Pinterest to authorize PinBuilds.
- Once connected, you'll see your Pinterest username and connection status.
PinBuilds requests the following permissions: read/write access to your boards and pins, and read access to your account info. Tokens are encrypted at rest and automatically refreshed before they expire.
You can disconnect at any time from Settings. Your scheduled pins are preserved — reconnect anytime to resume publishing.
